Wigry National Park, located in the heart of the Suwałki Region, east of Suwalki, captivates with its diverse landscapes and abundant natural resources. Its signature lake is Lake Wigry – one of the most beautiful and largest in Poland – surrounded by forests, hills, and picturesque countryside. Within the park's boundaries lie 42 natural lakes, including the unique Suchary – acidic peat lakes nestled within forests. The Czarna Hancza River flows through the park, as do the swift-flowing Kamionka, Wiatrołuża, and Maniówka streams . It is one of the best-preserved post-glacial landscapes in the country, combining lakes, forests, peat bogs, fields, and meadows. Wigry National Park is distinguished by its immense diversity of ecosystems and species – including plants, fungi, and animals. Due to its natural richness, it has been protected under the Natura 2000 network. Another integral element of the local landscape is the former Camaldolese monastery, picturesquely situated on a peninsula on Lake Wigry – one of the park's symbols.
