VISITOR CENTRE OF ASVEJA REGIONAL PARK

Visitor centers

The Visitor Centre of Asveja Regional Park is housed in the oldest building in Dubingiai – a former inn built in the 19th century. As you walk through its halls, you will step 200 years back in time, experiencing the architectural charm of this historic monument – the largest building of its kind in eastern Lithuania.
The Visitor Centre provides tourist information, guided tours, hiking excursions, educational activities, and cultural events, as well as hosting temporary exhibitions. A permanent interactive exhibition Mysteries of Lithuania’s Longest Lake and Its Archaeological Heritage invites visitors to become archaeologists for a day and dive into the secrets of the depths of Asveja Lake, which have been explored by fewer people than the Moon! Here, you will uncover the answers to fascinating questions, such as:

  • Could Asveja Lake, the longest lake in Lithuania, really be 2 million years old? How did it form?
  • How are Dubingiai, the Radvila family, Grand Duke Vytautas, and Antanas Smetona connected?
  • What links Dubingiai Hillfort to these historical figures?
  • Is Asveja Lake only famous for being Lithuania’s longest lake?
  • Why is it called the “Capital of Grass Snakes”?
  • What makes the wetlands of this region so important, and why is their biodiversity among the richest in Lithuania?
  • How is Finland connected to the Jurkiškis Mountain Stream, which flows into Asveja Lake?
