VISITOR CENTRE OF RAMBYNAS REGIONAL PARK

Visitor centers

Located just 1 km from the famous Rambynas Hill and only 300 meters from the historic Bitėnai-Užbičiai Cemetery – often called the Pantheon of Lithuania Minor – the Visitor Centre of Rambynas Regional Park stands on the site of an old farm building that once belonged to historic G. Volberg’s inn. On the first floor, visitors will find a spacious hall designed for community gatherings, educational and cultural events, and exhibitions. Adjacent to it is the visitor reception area, where you will always be warmly welcomed, receive essential information, and have the opportunity to purchase souvenirs featuring the Park’s symbols. The second floor houses an exhibition showcasing the natural and cultural treasures of the regional park. Here, visitors can explore the history of the Vilkyškiai Ridge’s formation, the vast floodplain meadows stretching between the mouths of the Jūra and Nemunas Rivers, and the unique oxbow lakes. The exhibit highlights the Park’s rich plant and animal life, as well as the diverse forest covering the ridge’s peaks. The most treasured part of the ridge is Rambynas Hill – marking the end of its Lithuanian section. The Hill holds deep mythological significance and is closely tied to the fate of the Skalvians, an ancient Baltic tribe. The exhibition also explores the historical cities of Tilžė (Tilsit) and Ragainė, along with notable figures such as Martynas Mažvydas and Vydūnas. Countless fascinating stories and discoveries await you at the Rambynas Visitor Centre!
