Visitor centers

The Visitor Centre hosts the exhibition The Great Nemunas Loops, showcasing a rare geological and hydrological phenomenon unique not only to Lithuania but also to Europe. The extraordinary Nemunas River Valley is adorned with towering cliffs, ravines, and steep escarpments, while new islands continue to form in the river. The valley is home to remarkable natural formations, including the unique Škėvonys Ridge, erosion spurs, and deep depressions. The breath-taking Verknė Valley adds to the landscape’s charm. Surrounding the Great Nemunas Loops are vast ancient forests, with the legendary Punia Forest standing out as one of Lithuania’s last primeval woodlands. The Punia and Prienai Forests are home to Lithuania’s tallest trees, including the impressive Degsnė larch grove. Scattered throughout the Nemunas Valley, numerous ancient hillforts bear witness to the region’s rich historical past.
