The Yotvingian Memorial Room in Szurpiły (Jeleniewo commune), housed in a former school, presents the history of the Yotvingians and the results of archaeological research on the stronghold on Castle Hill. Attractions include a glass-floored model depicting a section of Castle Hill with surrounding lakes and the scene of the Ruthenian attack on the Yotvingians, replicas of monuments discovered in and around Szurpiły, illuminated glass panels depicting the history of Yotvingia and archaeological research, a map of the tribal divisions of Prussia in the 13th century, an animation depicting Castle Hill during the Yotvingian era, and a film about its legend. The educational trail "In the Trail of Szurpiły ," featuring sculptures of warriors, begins at the room. The facility is picturesquely situated in the Suwałki Landscape Park, overlooking Lake Szurpiły.
