ROMINCKA FOREST LANDSCAPE PARK

Nature / landscape

Romincka Forest Landscape Park protects the unique natural, landscape, and cultural values of the northeastern part of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. It encompasses the southern part of the Romincka Forest and adjacent areas within the Gołdap and Dubeninki municipalities (14,865 ha). The park, known as the Polish Taiga, is a mosaic of peat bogs, marsh forests, and boreal spruce forests. Eight reserves and the presence of rare plant species (including cloudberry) and animal species (wolf, lynx, lesser spotted eagle, black stork) attest to its exceptional biodiversity. The area is included in the Natura 2000 network. Remnants of East Prussia are a valuable cultural heritage: bridges in Stanczyki, former railway tracks, brick buildings, Protestant cemeteries, and the Wilhelm Stones – mementos of imperial hunts.
Recently, while wandering through the forest, you can also come across a herd of bison.
