Radžiūnai mound – an impressive historical and natural monument located on the left bank of the Nemunas River, in the Vidzgiris Botanical Reserve. Visitors can not only enjoy the grandeur of the hill fort but also walk along a 9 km long educational trail that winds through deciduous forests and the slopes of the Kirmija stream. The hill fort is accessible via a convenient 4 km circular pedestrian path with informational panels revealing the secrets of the region's nature and history. According to legend, the hill fort was built by two princely brothers to defend themselves from enemies.
Archaeological findings suggest that a settlement existed here as early as the 2nd to 5th centuries: remains of hearths, pottery shards, weapons, and flint tools have been discovered. The hilltop is triangular, with an impressive embankment and deep ditch, offering a view of the Nemunas River valley. The slopes reach 30-35 meters, making it resemble a natural fortress. Nearby, the "Tarzanija" adventure park offers the chance to combine cultural tourism with fun activities for the whole family. Radžiūnai Hill Fort is an excellent spot for nature lovers, history enthusiasts, and those seeking inspiring routes in the Alytus region.
