PYRAMID IN RAPA

Historic sites

The Pyramid of Rapa is the unique tomb of the Farenheid family , built in the early 19th century at the initiative of Baron Friedrich, who was fascinated by ancient Egypt. Designed with extraordinary precision, it was intended to provide ideal conditions for mummification. The first person buried there was the baron's three-year-old daughter, who died in 1811.
The tomb was placed on the axis of the manor park, visible from the manor house, and accessible via an artificial causeway. Over time, seven family members, including the baron himself, were buried here. During both wars, it was devastated by the Russians, and later by vandals.
Currently, the structure has been renovated, secured with trellises, and is open to viewing from the outside. A convenient forest path leads to the pyramid, with free parking along the road. Admission to the site is free.
