OLD TOWN VILNIUS

Historic sites

Vilnius is the cradle of the state. Vilnius Old Town is the historical city center and is one of the most interesting capitals of Eastern Europe. The multinational, multi-religious, multicultural city has always attracted guests to the city and fascinated with the diversity of architecture. Castle ruins, a network of narrow streets, red-brick churches with pointed towers, basements of residential buildings. In the historical center of Vilnius, on the current Cathedral Square, there was once the spiritual center of the pagan state - the site of the Perkūnas Temple. In prehistoric times, this was the spiritual and administrative center of the Lithuanian tribe. This is evidenced by the legends of the Šventaragis Valley. The fact that the Balts lived here (4th-8th centuries) is confirmed by archaeological research data.
