KAZLŲ RŪDA REGIONAL MUSEUM EXHIBITION

Museums

The Kazlų Rūda Regional Museum Exhibition, located in the Tourism and Business Information Centre, invites you to explore the history and secrets of the region. Opened in 2022, it offers a modern and interactive journey through time and legends. Here, stories intertwine about the town that emerged between forests and iron ore, echoes of the railway, the interwar prosperity, and partisan struggles in the deep forests. Interactive narratives bring to life old legends about the nobleman Baltramiejus Kazlas, who came from Masuria and gave his name to the town, allowing visitors to experience the silence of the forests that once hid insurgents and brave fighters. The exhibition also reveals the beauty of the region’s nature – it is like a step into a sacred forest where history smells of resin and moss. Here, you will learn about famous locals, see fragments of preserved wooden architecture, and discover monuments that protect the memory of the past. Visiting the museum is free of charge when done independently, and guided tours are available for just 1 EUR, making it a great opportunity to uncover the secrets of Suvalkija’s heart. Students can immerse themselves in living history through educational programs included in the Cultural Passport. Kazlų Rūda welcomes travelers ready to experience its legends and the magic of its forests.
