Founded at the initiative of forest scientist Professor Algirdas Valavičius, "Girios aidas" has been nurturing the connection between humans and forests since 1971. The museum first attracts passersby with its original architecture – resembling a fairytale house. Inside, you will find taxidermized animals and birds of Lithuania, interactive games allowing visitors to explore nature, and exhibitions telling the story of forest life throughout the year.
The museum hosts exhibitions of wood carving, blacksmithing, ceramics, and amber works, and the library offers books on nature and forestry. Around the museum, there is an educational trail with wooden sculptures, roofed posts, and decorative plants created by famous folk artists such as A. Česnulis, S. Vaida, A. Lastauskas, A. Raugala, J. Videika, and others. Children can not only learn about nature but also have fun at the playground.
It is a place where knowledge, art, and tranquility merge – an ideal stop on a journey through Dzūkija.
