HAMMER MUSEUM IN DEGUČIAI

Museums

In Balts culture, the hammer was more than just a tool – it was a symbol of creativity and strength, connecting people with crafts, the earth, and the community.
The Hammer Museum in Degučiai is a unique place where an everyday tool becomes not just a symbol of history but also of culture. Located in Vilkaviškis District, you’ll find over 1,400 hammers from all over the world – from the USA to Australia. Among them are hammers used by carpenters, butchers, jewelers, and even judges, highlighting the tool’s versatility.
Each exhibition in the museum is marked with the country of origin and its purpose, allowing visitors to see how the shape and function of the hammer evolved across different cultures and trades.
Though the museum’s founder is no longer with us, his legacy lives on – visitors find not only tools but also inspiration here.

This is a private museum, so it is necessary to arrange a visit in advance.
