The ethnographic “Suvalkian Homestead” is an authentic late 19th-century homestead, preserved almost unchanged from the prosperous times of the village of Pervazninkai. It still features a granary, old farm buildings, a bathhouse, and a large barn that can accommodate over 60 guests. The homestead yard, with its garden, pond, and nearby forest, creates a cozy, natural environment reminiscent of old village life.
During tours, the homestead owner reveals the uniqueness of the Suvalkija region, telling about the Suvalkian way of life, daily routines, celebrations, and traditions. Visitors are shown an exhibition of ancient tools, reflecting the hardworking and inventive spirit of Lithuanians, and introduced to the authentic architectural layout of the homestead.
The experience is further enriched by the surroundings – nearby flows the Nemunas River and five impressive Sudargas hillforts stand tall. This is a unique opportunity to travel back to the times after the abolition of serfdom and feel how our great-grandparents lived.
“Suvalkian Homestead” is a living testimony of history, traditions, and peaceful village life, inviting every traveler to discover the authentic spirit of Suvalkija.
