The impressive Kartenos Hillfort dates back to the 8th–13th centuries. The wooden castle that stood on it was an important defensive and administrative center for the Curonian people of Ceklis. The educational program introduces visitors to the unique historical and archaeological complex of Kartenos Hillfort, the ancient Curonian settlement, and the history and mythology of the area. While actively traveling through the Minija Valley, you will observe nature and visit the mythological stone Laumės kūlis and Kartenos or Abakų Lurdas with a chapel.
