The “Virbalio Vartai” Community Old Crafts Center invites travelers to experience the true spirit of the Lithuanian countryside. By booking the educational program “The Bread Path,” you will experience the entire bread-making process – from sowing the grain to tasting a freshly baked fragrant loaf just pulled from the oven. While your own shaped bread is baking, you can try other ancient crafts: weaving a floor mat, making candles, twisting rope, molding clay, and solving puzzles.
After the activities, a festive table awaits with hot herbal tea, bread, rustic lard, sausage, skilandis (smoked sausage), cheese with honey, and traditional yeast cake. Adults can taste “Trejanka” – a drink whose recipe has been passed down for over 150 years. During Advent, there is an educational program “The Story and Birth of Kalėdaitis,” where you will learn about Christmas Eve traditions, fortune-telling customs, and bake your own Kalėdaitis.
